STEREOTYPED BEHAVIOR CAUSED BY PDI AT WORK
The Power distribution index describes a society’s levels of inequality and how these are endorsed by followers and leaders. The less powerful members accept and expect that power is distributed unequally.
Low power distribution index:
- Decentralized/ flat hierarchy
- Percentage of management low
- Small salary difference
- High qualification also on low hierarchies
- Presents own opinion to others independent of status
High power distribution index:
- Central decision making/ steep hierarchy
- Percentage of managers high
- Large difference in salaries
- High status of white collar jobs
- Fear to contradict superior
- Tight control considered right
